When studying organizational management this semester I found the discussion on organizational conflict to be the most compelling. Our analysis not only gave me understanding on how destructive team conflict is present in organizations, but also in any teamwork setting. Conflict is often a recurring problem for organizations, so it is vital for leaders to understand how to regulate it. Whether we were studying organizational change, devolvement, or leadership what was common to all was the presence of conflict and its effect on an organization. Completing the FIRO-B assessment was an experience that was helpful in offering insight into organizational conflict. There are a multitude of personality tests that individuals can take, but this†¦show more content†¦Individuals can often become unaware of the way in which they present themselves to their peers, the FIRO-B assessment works to remedy that to some degree. By completing the assessment team members will become more aware of their own desires as well as the way they express themselves to others. When organizations use this assessment it will assist in creating a healthier team and overall organizational culture. My advice to organizations would to actively use tools such as the FIRO-B to help in their management of employees. Control, inclusion, and affection hold varying degrees of importance to individuals in teams but also a broader community. Although it may be challenging it is imperative for an organization to help manage the way that their employees relate to one another. Employees that regularly work together should all complete the assessment and then meet to discuss differences in personal scores, and what they indicate. This will help reduce the instances of unproductive workplace conflicts. If managers strategize to take a preemptive strike when dealing with conflict, work teams will be better equipped to handle difficulties as they arise. Furthermore, by evaluating team differences from the start, individuals will be able to understand their peers’ differences. Completing
