Notably, tourists visiting Langkawi have interest and motives in historical places like the Langkawi Cultural Village (Nair and Azmi 2008, p. 35). Moreover, they have interest and motives in the hospitable reception and friendliness exhibited by the people of Malaysia. The resounding duty-free shopping status experienced by the tourists defines their interest and motives of visiting this destination. The study establishes that both the Malaysian and non-Malaysian tourists depict immense interest in the relaxation derived from visiting Langkawi (Nair and Azmi 2008, p. 36). Scientific Concept of Magnetism There are two essential requirements for generating a magnetic field which are magnetic material and current. The magnetic field is a region in which the magnetic effect due to electric current or of a magnet is precipitated. When small magnet is brought in the vicinity then torque will be experienced on the test magnet up to this magnet becomes oriented in a particular direction. The magnitude of this torque is nothing but measurement of the strength of the magnetic field and the shown direction of orientation which is the direction of the field. Magnetism means it is a physical phenomenon involving magnetic fields and whose effects upon materials. The magnetic fields may be set by electric currents or by magnets. In the magnetic material, the individual atoms cause magnetic fields when whose electrons have a net magnetic moment due to their angular momentum. Due to angular momentum of charged particle a magnetic moment arises whose cooperative effect acquires the macroscopic magnetic field of a permanent magnet. Hence only one kind of magnetism was known until 1821which was produced by iron magnets. It was proved that when an electric current flows in a wire then needle of compass moves nearby it. This new phenomenon was studied by Ampere, concluded that the nature of magnetism which was quite different from basically a force between electric currents. The two parallel currents which are in the same direction attract each other and on the other hand, the two parallel currents in opposite direction repel each other. According to the modern theory, magnetism in solids arises due to spins and orbital motion of electrons and also due to the spin of the nuclei of an atom. Due to motion of electrons, the magnetic effects produced in magnetic materials. The magnetic moments associated with the atoms are due to three types of motions which are, one is the electron orbital motion, second is the change in orbital motion caused by an external magnetic field and third one is the spin of the electrons. In most of the atoms the electrons occur in pairs. When electron pair spins in opposite directions then they cancel each other means there is no net magnetic fields exist. In magnetic materials with some unpaired electrons show a net magnetic field and which react more to an external field. The major contribution is due to spin of unpaired valance electrons in magnetic field of the magnetic materials. These unpaired valence electrons produce permanent electronic magnetic moments. The nature of magnetization produced depends on presence of the number of unpaired valence electrons in the atoms of the solid and on the relative orientations of the neighboring magne tic moments. For the generation of net non-zero magnetic moment, number of such magnetic dipoles may align parallel to each other, with or without the application of magnetic field. As a magnetic material is kept in a magnetic field then it becomes magnetized. It means that the material itself becomes a magnet. Hence the intensity of the induced magnetism is called the magnetization. The magnetization is also called as the magnetic moment per unit volume of the material. The magnetic force anywhere in space of magnetic field is described by a vector field .It is also called the magnetic induction. When two electrons which are spinning in the same direction creates a stronger magnetic field. When a pair of electrons is spinning in opposite direction then their net effect cancel each other, hence there is no magnetic field which occurs in substances such as rubber, wood and plastics etc. When magnetic field is applied then materials turn magnetic field, they acquire a nonzero magnetization. On the basis of magnetic property as per the application of an external field, magnetic materials are divided into temporary and permanent magnets. In case of temporary magnets after the removal of the applied field will lose whose all or most of their magnetic properties. On the other hand in permanent magnet magnetic propertie s will retain or keep for a very long time. These temporary magnets are made from the materials such as iron, nickel and cobalt. Hence, these materials are called as soft magnetic materials that mean outside a strong magnetic field they usually do not retain their magnetism. The total energy of the crystal is determined by the distribution of cations in a given spinel oxide. This parameter depends on other factors such as the size of ions, the limited space between the repulsive forces , Coulomb interactions between charges of these ions, effects of polarisation and ordering of cations. With the help of spontaneous magnetization Ferromagnets are characterized. In the absence of field, ferromagnets attain saturation magnetization in each of the domains. But the magnetization curve shows that an unmagnetized ferromagnetic sample displays no overall magnetization in zero fields. However, it requires an appreciable field to produce saturation magnetization value. Weiss domain hypothesis explained this discrepancy in between the theory and the observation. According to Weiss domain hypothesis, a ferromagnet of macroscopic size consists numerous regions is known as magnetic domains in the demagnetized state. In each domain all the atomic moments are aligned in same easy direction. In orders to minimize the magneto static energy, the direction of the spontaneous magnetization varies from domain to domain. The multi domains are formed, if the ferromagnetic grains are subdivided into many domains with walls between them. When the grain size which is in the order of the wall thickness, hence it is a single domain grain. The difference between multi domain and single domain grain is that the multi domain grains possesses a net zero magnetic moment due to different directions of the individual domain magnetization, but the single domain grains are always show the saturation intensity below its curie temperature. The single domain size range would be from less than 1OOOA ° which is less than the lattice constant of the material and hence these grains are also called as fine particles. The hysteresis behavior of these particles shows reversible magnetization curves. In this case there is a zero value of the remenance and the coercive force. The multi domain particles require a much larger magnetic field than single domain particle and hence super paramagnetic particles acquire saturated magnetization. When the changes in appropriate temperature, the hysteresis loop of single domain and due to super paramagnetic particles are interchangeable. However the m ulti domain particles are independent of temperature. In magnetism the major contribution comes from the spin of unpaired valance electrons which produces permanent electronic magnetic moments.

My Family Tradition While preparing for this paper, I thought very hard about any specific traditions that my family has or has had in the past. Although thinking and brainstorming for a long time I could not come up with one tradition that my family has. I think that the main reason for that is because, almost everyone in my family has gone through a divorce. Ending a marriage seems to be very popular in our society today, one statistic states that, â€Å"50% of first marriages end in divorce.† However common divorce may be the pain and heartbreak seems meaningless, until it happens to you. The reason why I can’t think of any family traditions is because all of my family traditions have been ripped apart because of two people’s ill feelings toward each other. Therefore, my family tradition is divorce. I know it seems strange for a family tradition to be divorce, but opening presents on Christmas Day and eating a fancy dinner on Thanksgiving, have all been overshadowed by something far more traditional in my family. My great-grandmother and great-grandfather lived in England and brought eight beautiful daughters into this world. Two years after my grandmother and her twin were born; my great-grandparents ended a 15-year marriage in divorce. When my grandmother was 17 she met my grandfather an American man who was in the US Air Force. Shortly after their meeting, they found out they were having a baby and were married soon after. My grandmother then moved to the States and they began their life together. Eventually the Rains family had two more children, my mother and my Uncle Les. Unfortunately, this was never a fairytale life for any member of the family. My grandfather was an alcoholic, due to the stress in his job and be... ... the biggest impact that divorce will have on me as a teacher is, that I realized that the best thing I could give these children is love. Because of all the heartbreak in my family, I know that love is one thing that no one can live without. School is more than reading and writing, it is about life and I feel that the biggest part of life is love and being loved. Even though I have been through such a horrible experience, I am not alone in this world, nor will I be the last one to ever go through such an experience. Edgar Sia II biography Essay

Down south in Iloilo city, he was once an obscure, down-to-earth businessman eking out a living. He’s nicknamed â€Å"lnJap,† the combined first syllables of his parents’ ethnic origins – father is â€Å"intsik† (Chinese), while mother is Japanese, both entrepreneurs. Instead of pursuing a business degree in college as desired by his parents, Sia took a course in architecture in college, but only to drop out later. Yes, he’s a school dropout. Apparently bored by the daily routine of going to and from school, Sia tried his luck in business, a decision that proved to be the turning point of his life and career path. At 20, he tried his hand in running various businesses, ranging from family-owned hotel to the ubiquitous laundry and photo developing shops. Parking lot Like any typical Ilonggo, Sia liked to dine out. His favorite food was the fried chicken served by fastfood chains Jollibee and McDonald’s. But then, something was missing – the fried chicken looked and tasted too foreign, westernized. It didn’t suit the taste buds of typical Ilonggos or Pinoys. Wanting to be different, Sia struck the idea of a homespun food outlet serving Filipino-style street fare in a restaurant-type setting. He found an unoccupied 250 square meter spot in the parking lot of a popular mall in Iloilo city. That space became the birth place of the now popular Mang ‘nasal serving charcoal- broiled chicken with unlimited rice. It has since become a modern icon of the Ilonggo culinary culture. Parents To set his plans in motion, Sia spared no time and effort to borrow P2. 4 million as a start-up capital from his parents. Soon, Mang ‘nasal caught fire in the local food scene. It opened to business on Dec. 12, 2003. Long queues of food habitu ©s flocked to the resto, despite the ushrooming of similar establishment all over Iloilo city. With popularity of Mang ‘nasal surging not only in the city, but also in the neighboring regions, it was not surprising that many knocked on Sia’s doors applying for a franchise. But he was adamant in acceding to franchising. To Sia, it’s not unusual to witness huge crowds trying out a new resto in its first three months of operations. â€Å"After six months, you have a 50-50 chance of sustaining that crowd. If after a year, they still keep going to you, you probably have a hit,† he recalls. It was an understatement. Franchising What drew the crowds of foodies to Mang ‘nasal was its charcoal-grilled chicken served with rice wrapped in a banana leaf. It was unique in the sense that it wasnt like anything on the menus of rivals McDonald, KFC or even Jollibee. The flavor was distinctively Filipino, as was the earthy d ©cor with wooden tables, handmade paper lamps and walls painted in orange, green and yellow. So popular that Mang ‘nasal soon ate up the market share of Jollibee and McDonald’s in the fried chicken segment. From that lone nook and cranny in a mall, Mang ‘nasal soon branched out to nearby ities and provinces largely aided by Sla’s decision to allow franchisees starting in 2005. Menus and sales In March 2012, Mang ‘nasal grew to a network of 433 restaurants all over the country, chalking up gross sales of close to PIO billion since it opened to business in 2003. To date, it has about 14,200 workers and a market value of P7 Billion. Each store employs an average of 40 people. Despite the stiff competition in the grilled food business, Mang ‘nasal still blazed new trails in the fastfood market. Its secret recipe is the use local herbs and spices. Grilled chicken isn’t the only fare that Mang ‘nasal offers. In response to the fast- pork sinigang, batchoy, etc. Sensing that Mang ‘nasal was giving its competitors a run for their money, Jollibee owner Tony Tan Cak Tiong Just couldn’t bear seeing his flagship’s market dominance eroded by a new kid on the block. Jollibee Rather than resort to the futility of beating Mang ‘nasal in the fastfood business, Jollibee instead took Sia’s company into its fold. Tan Cak Tiong shelled out a hefty Php2. 8 billion to acquire 70 percent equity in Sla’s flagship in 2010. Somehow, the deal cut short what could have been Mang ‘nasal’s long Journey to topple Jollibee from its position as the countrys number one fastfood chain. In no time, Mang ‘nasal has emerged as the second largest chain next to Jollibee, beating American multinational McDonald’s. Apparently sentimental, Sia admitted that his sale of a majority stake in ‘nasal to Jollibee was â€Å"painful. † In a letter to his â€Å"Mang ‘nasal Family,† expressed â€Å"deep sadness† like a â€Å"father parting with his child† as he handed over the care of the restaurant to the giant conglomerate. Though relegated as a minority shareholder, Sia still exercises a certain degree of managing Mang ‘nasal as part of the Jollibee’s overall management group. The youthful entrepreneur is not one who rests on his laurels. With Mang Inasal safely entrenched in its niche in the highly competitive fastfood market, Sia has begun nurturing the growth of his new fastfood firm Deco’s, considered as the original batchoy resto. Never dreamed of From initial outlets in Iloilo city, Deco’s has already branched out to other parts of the country, including Metro Manila. Like the trailblazing Mang ‘nasal, Sia is bullish his latest venture will reach the zenith of success, given his tried, tested and proven recipe of entrepreneurship. In 2011, the young Sia was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines for Entrepreneurship. No less than President Aquino handed the prestigious award in ceremonies at Malacanang Palace. Sia is also a recipient of the Urban Leadership Award from the Canadian Urban Institute for Entrepreneurship in 2010 and his â€Å"outstanding contributions† to the nhancement of the public realm and the quality of life in the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras For two years, from 2011 to 2012, Sia made it to the elite list of Us-based Forbes magazine as one of the 40 richest Filipinos. With sales of Mang ‘nasal booming over the past years, his net worth has zoomed steadily, amounting to a mind-boggling P5. 8 billion as of last June. You are the president of the McKinstry Advertising Agency, a medium sized firm that specializes in preparing the marketing strategies, performing the market research studies, arranging the distribution channels, and designing the advertising and promotional materials for industrial companies that have developed †off-shoot† consumer products. You obviously serve a very specific niche. Your clients are industrial companies- that is, they sell primarily to other manufacturing firms and government agencies- that have developed- as unintended outcomes of their R&D programs- products for the retail trade. Dow Chemical Company, while not a client of your agency, is an almost ideal example of this type of firm. They have developed and currently produce and market such consumer products as Dow Bathroom Cleaner and Ziploc Bags that in total amount to only 5.8% of Dow’s total sales. You clients tend not to be as large as Dow Chemical Company nor as well established in consume r marketing. Most have had very little experience in retail sales, and they generally are not very sophisticated in advertising methods. They tend, therefore, to rely heavily upon the advice of the account executives and advertising experts at your agency, and to develop relationships with those people that are far more permanent and personal than is common in the â€Å" what have you done for me lately† culture of the consumer products advertising industry. The â€Å"permanent and personal† relationships that are typical of your company but not of industry in general seem to be the cause of a major problem that you have recently encountered. One of your large clients developed a new type of radar detector. Radar detectors, also known as â€Å"fuzzbusters† are simple but extremely sensitive radio receivers that are tuned to the wave length of the police radar. When a car equipped with a enabling the driver to slow down, if necessary, before the speed of the car can be calculated by the police equipment. The use of radar detectors, thus enables drivers to avoid being stopped and fined for speeding. Speeding is alleged to be responsible for many traffic accidents. There were 27.7 million traffic accidents involving passenger car in 2000, and 6.1 million traffic accidents involving trucks. These 33.8 million traffic accidents resulted in 46400 deaths, 1.8 million sever injuries that required  hospitalization, 7.8 million moderate injuries that required attention by medical personnel, extensive slight injuries, uncounted personal traumas, and huge financial losses. Speeding was said to be a factor in 65 % of all traffic accidents and 87% of those that caused deaths and serve injuries due to the greater impacts that come from the higher speeds, but it has to be admitted that neither statistic is totally reliable. Police estimate speed based upon the length of skid marks and the extent of physical damage, but those estimates obviously are inexact. Further, â€Å"speeding â€Å" is defined as any vehicle velocity above the posted limit, and it is claimed that the posted limit is considerably below the safe capability of modern car and high way in many instances. Vehicle speed, moreover, is only one of the factor that cause traffic accidents. Alcohol intoxication is believe to be associated with 28% of all accidents and 48% of all accidents that result in death and severe injury. Often speed and intoxication together are held to be the cause. Again, though, there is a problem in measuring intoxication. The percentage of alcohol in bloodstream that impairs physical response time and personal judgment varies with the body weight, physical conditioning, and drinking history of the individual. Police and medical attendants use a test that takes into account only body weight and, further, it is said by representatives of the licensed beverage( that is, beer, wine, and liquor) industry that the legal threshold for intoxication has been set much too low. Most drivers would be considered to be â€Å"driving under the influence† of they consumed two to three glasses of beer or wine within 30 minutes of and accident. In summary, it cannot be sai d that exact cause of most severe traffic accidents are known with certainty but it is believed that speeding and drinking, jointly or separately, play some role in the events that lead up to those accidents. Also to blame, in many instances, are the design of the highway, the condition of the weather, the maintenance of the vehicle, the time of the day (many severe accidents occur at dusk, with poor lighting and tired drivers), and the presence of radar detectors. A study by the Ohio State Police found that radar detectors were present in at least one of the vehicles involved in 69% of all severe traffic accidents on the highways of that state in 2005. Studies in other states have confirmed that finding, with some estimates of the relationship running as high as 75%. The use of radar detectors is illegal in many if not most states, but neither the  manufacturing nor the marketing of the units has ever been banned by the federal government which, of course, is the sole authority which could regulate their interstate trade. The U.S. constitution forbids any state from restricting† imports† from any other state. Currently, therefore, there often occur an unusual situation in w hich the use if the radar detector sets may be illegal within a given state, but the sale of those sets is not illegal and cannot be prohibited within that state. The manufacture and marketing of radar detectors was expanding industry, with total sales revenues reaching $67 million in 1991, until the police in a number of states began to uses lasers rather than radar to apprehend speeders. Lasers project focused beams of light waves rather than focused beams of radio waves, and consequently they cannot be â€Å"picked up† by most radar detectors. Your client, as an offshoot of contract research for the defense industry, has developed a new technology that does â€Å"pick up† the light waves far enough away from the source so that drivers can slow down. A full explanation of the technology is not needed; it is probably sufficient to say that the device works on the principle that the light waves from a police laser interfere with a certain spectrum of exceedingly short-range radio signals broadcast from the detector set in the owner’s car is out of sight, perhaps 1/4 mile ahead in the highway, and the police laser is not ta rgeted on this particular car. The proposed design also picks up the interference from a police radar device equally well. The electronics firm that developed the new radar/laser detection came to the account executive at your agency and requested a marketing plan supported by market research. The marketing plan was developed; it had a heavy emphasis upon direct distribution supported by extensive advertising. The market research was completed; it showed that the first entrant into this field with a new technology could rapidly build market share. The client requested that a young associated who had prepared a very successful advertising program for one of their earlier products be assigned to design the promotional materials for this new one. The associate, Marilynn Schaefer, refused, saying privately that she felt that it was not â€Å"right† to market radar and/or laser detectors that led to more numerous and more severe highway accidents and to greater incidents of death, suffering, and injury. The program director proposed other employees at the associate level within the  creative segment of the firm, but the client’s representative wanted Marilynn Schaefer to do the work. She continued to refuse, though expressing her reasons only to the account executive, George Sarbo. Eventually the conflict between these two people reached the stage at which George said to Marilynn, â€Å"either work on this account for me or don’t work at this agency for anyone† and fired her. Marilynn Schaefer immediately came to you, as president of the agency, saying that it was not right to fire a person because of her moral beliefs. George Sarbo quickly followed, saying that for 20 years he had followed the stated agency policy of providing clients with personalized service, and that if Marilynn did not want to so she could not work for him and she should not work for company. He also said that if Marilynn were retained at the agency he would leave. You realize that George Sarbo is one of only three account executives at your firm, that he has a very loyal following of clients with him if he indeed did decide to leave. Further conversations with both of the participants in the dispute and with the industrial client on the following day showed no change in their positions. The client’s representative clearly felt that the delay in assigning Ms. Schaefer to work on the needed advertising was due only to the press of other accounts upon her time; he stated that he felt that he was â€Å"owned† her assistance on this project.
